FAQ
Size
Q. What size vessels are available in the Swiftcat range?
A. The island wheel-house version is available from 8.6m – 10.6m, and the full width wheel-house
version is available 9.6m on stern drives, water jets, surface drives or outboards and 10.6m for the
entire fore mentioned plus conventional shaft drive.
Build stages
Q. What stages of build are the Swiftcat vessels available at?
A. The Swiftcat can be purchased at any stage from framed mouldings to finished vessel.
Build times
Q. How long does it take to build a Swiftcat?
A. A standard set of mouldings takes around two months, a vessel with all the glass works
completed takes around three months and depending on specification full build vessels
take between 4 and 6 months.
Performance
Q. What speed is the Swiftcat capable of?
A. Our prototype vessel Swiftsure is capable of 42 knots she has twin Steyr 250bhp diesels
with stern drives, she is also fitted with hydrofoils. Cruising speeds in excess of 20 knots are
achievable with as little as 190bhp per side using stern drives, and if shaft driven 250bhp is
required on a standard vessel for the same cruising speed.
Sea keeping
Q. How stable is a Swiftcat and do they suffer from slamming?
A. The Swiftcat far exceeds expectation in all sea states we have encountered and does not
suffer a slamming problem, but in all honesty these are just words you will hear from every
catamaran builder and salesman! The only real way we can demonstrate the Swiftcats strengths
would be to take you for a sea trial so you can gain firsthand experience aboard her as seeing
is believing.
Demo vessels
Q. Is there a demonstrator vessel?
A. We have an island wheel-house style demonstrator lying at West Mersea Island and a full
width wheel-house version in build that will be lying in Bradwell Marina, both vessels are within
30mins from our workshops. Trips on other Swiftcats we have built may be available upon request.
Dealers
Q. Is Swiftline marine the main dealer for the Swiftcat range?
A. Swiftline marine is the only distributor for the Swiftcat range and owns the moulds and the sole
rights to this range of vessels, the glass works are carried out under licence by Fibreglass Solutions UK Ltd.
Boat shows
Q. Will there be a Swiftcat at any of the upcoming boat shows?
A. The Swiftcat will be exhibiting on the pontoon area at the Southampton Seawork show in June 2011.
